Inertia or Intent?

Eva Hesse’s artworks pose a perplexing conservation challenge. Since her death in 1970, the diaphanous latex pieces have become hard and brittle. Their eventual deterioration was part of her intent, but do we simply let her art rot and disappear? Or do we intervene?
